Community, Workbench & Rideout

We believe that offering an accessible cycling resource for all in the community is a great enabler for change, especially in areas of social depravation.

IMG_2725.JPGWe have seen this at first hand. The positive vibe generated when you fix a bike enabling a person to get around, parents bringing in bikes that have sat in the shed for months and within hours are out riding, giving reassurance when we UV code bikes, watching Duke of Edinburgh volunteers grow in confidence as they learn new skills, seeing a queue of young people, bikes in hand, waiting for Workbench mobile workshop to arrive or on one of our guided rides.

This makes us buzz!
It makes the community buzz!
Everyone is stoked!

  • “Liphook Youth Club are really grateful to the workbench team for their hard work and effort in getting our bikes ready for our upcoming 25 mile sponsored ride. As well as doing extensive repairs and ensuring our safety, they brought with them an infectious enthusiasm for riding and getting involved with our community. Our young people were motivated and inspired by them, and pleased for the opportunity to learn about their bikes. We are all amazed by the generosity of this group who freely give their time and expertise, and who additionally have significantly helped one of our members by replacing her bust bike, which she relies on to get to work every day.”

  • “What a fantastic opportunity for all the family to get bikes checked over by people who know what they are doing and all free! A really professional service, friendly, and extremely helpful. It was a pleasure to offer Grayshott School playground as a venue for the local community to benefit from this resource. Long may it continue. Any chance of offering a similar service in Surrey?”
    – Jon Hills
  • “I went the see the WorkBench lads in Grayshott. The Crew sorted out a bike for me which I had all but written off, Yet In just 1 hour I had a bike that was not only ride-able but almost like new.
I must say; it’s absolutely amazing to see a group like this, fostering community spirit, bringing people together whilst at the same time giving a little back to everyone.
The whole idea of while-you-wait Roadside Cycle service in this manner is in my opinion totally inspired. Those that come to check this smashing organisation out, leave with solid and roadworthy cycles which In the process is also making our children (and me !!) safer on the roads that certainly can’t be a bad thing.
Top Job guys it really is appreciated...! Kudos to Will and the Guys at the Bench!”
    – Paul Killington
